YMCN autumn school: Probability and dynamics on groups

22 – 26 September 2025

The interaction between probability, dynamics and group theory is an active and growing area of research with exciting recent developments. The goals of this autumn school are to expose young researchers to the diverse set of available tools in these areas, to facilitate collaborations and to stimulate new interactions.

Perspectives on the cohomology of general linear groups

6 – 10 Oktober 2025

This workshop focuses on recent advances around the (co-)homology of general linear and related groups. These basic topological invariants are, for example, related to questions in algebraic K-theory and conjectures in number theory. Their study can be approached from many different mathematical perspectives, each using their own set of techniques.

Scientific postdoc presentations

16 October 2025, 2:15 pm

Get an insight into the research of six new postdoctoral researchers of Mathematics Münster. In short scientific presentations Kevin Chun-Kai, Georg Lehner, Fridolin Melong, Maxim Ramzi, Eduardo Silva, Tomás Casal Otero will introduce their topics. The talks take place within the Colloquium Wilhelm Killing on 16 October 2025 at 2:15 pm in lecture hall M4.

Fokus-Programme

Um den wissenschaftlichen Austausch in der Mathematik und den interdisziplinären Wissenstransfer zu fördern, organisieren wir ein jährliches Focus-Programm zu einem aktuellen Thema. Die Workshops und Konferenzen bieten Raum für individuelle Gespräche und unterstützen die Zusammenarbeit, insbesondere mit Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen aus Münster.

Bielefeld-Münster Seminar on Groups, Geometry and Topology

15 July 2025

This is a joint seminar of research groups from Bielefeld and Münster. It started in 2015 and usually takes place once every semester, either in Bielefeld or in Münster. The topics of interest include group theory, geometry and topology. Everyone is welcome to participate in the lectures.
