Our Mission and Vision

The research area Live.Diversity at the IfE has the goal of recognizing and understanding social and individual markers of diversity, power asymmetries, and discrimination mechanisms in pedagogical fields. Our goal is to focus attention on the meaning of these factors for learning and research them from an intersectional perspective.

We promote interdisciplinary exchange and commit to strengthen diversity-competent action and equal opportunity in pedagogical field through praxis-informed research. Additionally, promoting early-career researchers is an important goal. We offer doctoral students an inspiring environment with a diverse range of possibilities for qualification, networking, and exchange.

Our vision is, though the pooling and networking of current diversity research in various pedagogical fields (school, child- and youth welfare, career guidance, adult education), to achieve a sustainable, long-lasting contribution to theoretical discourse, as well as gaining empirical insights. We strive to anchor diversity-competent approaches in education to create a learning environment which is both inclusive and promotes equal opportunity for everyone.
