  • Sovereignty | August 22, 2024 | 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

    Convince with Confidence and Charisma!

It's a proven fact: Generally, women find it harder to talk about their qualities, achievements, and accomplishments than men do. Many feel significant insecurity and nervousness when it comes to presenting themselves in front of others. But why is that?

Our social environment and gender-specific norms and role expectations influence our self-confidence, self-worth, and behavior from childhood. Therefore, it is crucial to engage intensively with one's own self-image and the image perceived by others to specifically improve one's presence and impact.

In this impulse lecture, you will discover what matters in true charisma:

    • Recognize the differences between self-confidence and self-worth.
    • Learn how self-confidence is formed and which factors influence your self-worth.

A Foundation for Harmonious Coexistence and Professional Success

According to the World Economic Forum, emotional intelligence and the ability to empathize are key skills for the future of work. They were often seen as weaknesses, but it's crucial to view these qualities as strengths and to learn new ways of thinking.

"Emotions" and "work" may seem incompatible at first glance, but for professional success, it's essential to reflect on one's own emotions as well as understand those of others. Emotional intelligence, which is based on empathy, is a foundation for harmonious coexistence and professional success.

Women play a decisive role in shaping a work culture based on understanding, collaboration, and emotional intelligence. We must debunk gender stereotypes and unlearn old patterns of thought. Only then can we create a humane, sustainable work environment.

  • Breaking Barriers" | November 25, 2024 | 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Paths to Empowering Women in Leadership Positions

For every 100 men promoted to leadership positions, there are only 87 women. Gender diversity is not just a socio-political imperative but also relevant from a business perspective. Yet, women remain underrepresented in both executive boards and leadership positions today.

Rather than focusing solely on the agency of individual women, Dr. Lioba Gierke sheds light on what organizations can do to empower female leaders and those aspiring to be. In her lecture, she draws on evidence-based findings and discusses with participants approaches and strategies within the academic context.

In addition to insights into the world of science, the impulse lecture also provides an opportunity for exchange about personal leadership experiences and best practices.

  • Female Leadership Personality | December 5, 2024 | 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

What seems self-evident can be questioned, allowing the leader's thinking and action space to expand. In this impulse workshop, we will deal with the role of attitude, inner beliefs, and the associated expectations of oneself and others as keys to further developing effectiveness as a leadership personality.

Speaker: Claudia Schmeink, Professor of Business Psychology, Diploma in Psychology, Systemic Consultant. She supports organizations and the individuals within through change situations. Clarifying roles, building on experiences, linking perspectives, and collectively envisioning the future are, for her, success factors for sustainable change and development.

  • Parenting is Leadership | February 12, 2025 | 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM

    Leadership Skills from the Family

Are you a leader and also a mother?

Then you are likely familiar with the stereotype that mothers might pose a risk from the organization's perspective:

The child who is again lying in bed with a cold,

The repeated cancellation of school classes,

Or the daycare closing due to water damage.

Your professional flexibility seems to be compromised by your private flexibility, which takes precedence.

However, this one-sided view of mothers overlooks the fact that parental leave initiates a personal maturation process and leads to a significant increase in social skills and leadership competencies.

At home, you are the role model, setting goals, providing feedback, finding the right balance between freedom and control, and juggling many tasks at once while staying as calm as possible.

In other words: As a mother, you learn everything a modern leader needs today and what is in demand in almost every organization.

The good news: You can learn to integrate these leadership skills from the family into your professional role. You can recognize the synergistic effects, expand them, and transfer them to your professional tasks.

Speaker: Dr. Stephanie Robben-Beyer, Coach, Moderator, Mentor

  • Leadership in Science | March 21, 2025 | 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

(Not) A Discipline in Its Own Right?

Leadership in science, sometimes dismissed as a stepchild and time-eater, and other times heralded as a driver of excellence and future viability, often remains a vague concept. However, upon closer examination, it becomes clear: leadership in the context of universities is not only highly significant but also follows its own unique logics and requirements. Based on observations from working with universities, this impulse lecture examines these peculiarities and describes the sometimes ambivalent relationship of scientists to power and leadership. Convinced of the high relevance of leadership in science, it makes a case for a clear and context-appropriate understanding of leadership, as well as an invitation to take a fresh look at one's own leadership profile.

    Overview of contents:

    • What are the unique challenges of leadership in science?
    • In which leadership roles do scientists act, and what value do they create with it?
    • What approaches and attitudes help to effectively shape leadership in an academic environment?
    • What does this mean for one's own profile development as a successful scientist?

Speaker: Dr. Kristina van Dawen is an Associate Partner at grow.up. Management consulting and supports individuals and organizations in their development as a consultant, trainer, and coach. A key focus area is the development of leadership competence, in businesses as well as in universities and scientific organizations.
