Instructors of the University of Münster will find a wide range of advanced qualification measures in university didactics at the Centre for Teaching in Higher Education (ZHL). You can sign up for one or multiple courses at a time depending on your schedule, interests and prior knowledge. After completing each course, you will receive a certificate of participation. You can also earn the NRW certificate of “Professional Teaching Competence in Higher Education”. This qualification programme is based on the standards of the Netzwerk Hochschuldidaktik NRW and the guidelines of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hochschuldidaktik (dghd). Participants receive training in central areas of competence essential for professionalising one’s teaching activities at institutions of higher education. The programme focuses on five core tasks: teaching subject-specific content in a manner conducive to learning, testing content transparently with respect to learning goals, evaluating coursesadvising students constructively and developing innovative teaching methods of one’s own.

For early-career instructors, we recommend starting with the basic courses which can be completed independently and in any order. These courses teach participants fundamental didactic principles, such as course planning, execution and reflection, as well as personal aspects like building communication skills and understanding one’s role as an instructor.

To be automatically informed about the current offers of the Centre for Teaching in Higher Education (ZHL), including when the course programme is updated, you are welcome to subscribe to our mailing list.
