The Faculty of Geosciences at the University of Münster, Germany, invites applications for a

Professor of Sedimentology (W2)

within the Institute for Geology and Palaeontology.

Applicants should have a strong background in both research and teaching with an emphasis on the field of clastic sedimentology including sediment transport. The ideal candidate will have a strong international research profile in process-oriented research, a record of using analytical/quantitative methods, broad interests in geosciences, and proven success in the acquisition of external funding. A willingness to cooperate with other groups within the Institute and the Faculty of Geoscience is also required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching sedimentology in its full breadth in the geosciences BSc and MSc programs as well as in the associated BSc programs (geography, landscape ecology). This entails the organization of field and laboratory courses, as well as contributions to multidisciplinary courses.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have academic achievements made as a Juniorprofessor (assistant professor), in a Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant fields in Germany or abroad.
