Call for MM Full-Grant Scholars winter term 2024/25

The Mathematics Münster Master’s Scholarship is awarded to talented students who will contribute to the international research environment of the Cluster of Excellence Mathematics Münster at the University of Münster. The scholarship holders will enjoy flexibility and academic freedom in the University of Münster Masters programme, meeting students and researchers from all over the world.

WHO CAN APPLY?
Students who have completed a first degree (Bachelor, Diplom or comparable academic degree) before the start of the scholarship. Applicants must meet the admission requirements for the upcoming winter term or be enrolled in their first semester in the M.Sc. Mathematics programme at the time of the deadline. Applicants are only eligible if they have not spent more than twelve months within the last three years in Germany prior to the start of the scholarship.

FUNDING
The scholarship offers monthly payments of 934 Euro (corresponding to BAföG), in addition to a once paid lump sum for travel expenses (the exact value will depend on your country of origin), and the semester fee at University of Münster.

HOW TO APPLY?
While the admission process takes place via the University of Münster-online application, we additionally require

  • a letter of motivation to pursue your Masters studies at Münster.
  • two letters of recommendation from university professors (not necessarily from your home institution). Those must be sent directly from the letter writers to us by e-mail.

SELECTION
Applicants will be selected by the Masters Admission Committee of M.Sc. Mathematics Münster. They will be rated according to their academic excellence, and motivation to pursue studies at the University of Münster. The best candidates will be invited to an online interview with the selection committee. The committee will then forwards its recommendation to the executive board of Mathematics Münster for the final funding decision.

DURING THE SCHOLARSHIP
While it is intended that scholarship holders receive funding for the complete two-year period of the Masters programme, the scholarship is granted for twelve+twelve months. The extension of the scholarship to the second year is subject to a positive evaluation, based on a two-page report of activities and your transcript of records.
