Sie möchten durch unsere Workshops Ihre Kompetenzlücken schließen, versteckte Talente entdecken oder Ihre beruflichen Perspektiven erweitern? Melden Sie sich gerne für das aktuelle Semesterprogramm an, wir freuen uns auf Sie! Der Anmeldebeginn für das Sommersemester 2026 ist am 17.03.2026 um 19 Uhr.

Die Universität Münster bietet eine Vielzahl an Workshopangeboten, die auch für Promovierende und Postdocs offen sind. Unter „Weitere Qualifizierungsangebote“ finden Sie überfachliche Workshopprogramme verschiedener Einrichtungen.

Wir möchten allen Teilnehmenden einen möglichst sicheren und zugänglichen Lernraum bieten und gehen im Rahmen unserer Möglichkeiten gern auf individuelle Bedürfnisse (z. B. barrierearme Rahmenbedingungen oder neurodivergenzsensible Kommunikationsformen) ein.

    The first part of the workshop will focus on key aspects of research data management, including the research data life cycle, metadata, FAIR principles, and the publication and preservation of research data. The second part will address the handling of qualitative research data in the context of GDPR requirements and ethical research practices. Topics include informed consent, anonymisationand pseudonymisation, vulnerable groups, and considerations for responsible data sharing and reuse. The workshop will conclude with time for discussion and questions.

An initiative by UK universities (Bristol, Cambridge, Crick, Glasgow, KCL, Imperial, QMUL, Surrey, Ulster, and York), with the University of Münster as an external partner, this series of facilitated writing sessions provides researchers with structured support and uninterrupted Pomodoro-style writing intervals. This unique collaboration combines Uni Münster’s focused Writing Gurus sessions with the broader Virtual Writing Retreats network, offering strategies, tools, and peer support to help you make tangible progress on your writing projects.

    Reading is essential for researchers but can feel time-consuming and overwhelming. This interactive workshop introduces practical techniques to read more efficiently, adapt your reading speed, and improve comprehension and motivation. You will learn to adjust pace and depth based on purpose and material, helping you stay focused and engaged. The workshop includes two half-day sessions (14 January 2027, 9am–1pm, and a virtual follow-up on 29 January 2027, 9am–1pm), plus guided self-learning exercises between sessions.

    DOCTORAL and POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHERS 

    For researchers already actively working on an English academic text (such as a thesis chapter, article or conference paper), this workshop will hone participants’ skills presenting their research in a compelling and engaging way. Participants must prepare and pre-submit a mini 3-4 page version of the text as we will not only be focusing on self-editing techniques but also on giving, responding to and incorporating feedback effectively in a range of contexts.

    PROMOVIERENDE und POSTDOCS 

    Der letzte große Meilenstein der Promotion ist die mündliche Verteidigung der Arbeit, die besondere kommunikative Herausforderungen mit sich bringt. Dieser Workshop richtet sich an Promovierende, die sich intensiv auf ihre Disputation vorbereiten wollen. Zu Beginn des Seminars wird der traditionelle Ablauf und die Bedeutung einer Disputation vorgestellt sowie Fragen gesammelt, die typischerweise in Disputationen auftreten. Im Anschluss werden verschiedene Strategien für eine überzeugende argumentative sowie rhetorische Positionierung während der Disputation vermittelt. Alle Promovierenden erhalten die Möglichkeit, ihre Disputation im Rahmen des Seminars zu simulieren und dazu ein detailliertes Feedback zu bekommen.

    PROMOVIERENDE und POSTDOCS 

    Der Workshop richtet sich an Promovierende und Postdocs, die sich im Umgang mit Argumenten schulen möchten. Der Ansatzpunkt ist dabei nicht die Rhetorik, sondern das Verständnis der logischen Grundlagen des Argumentierens. Logik als die Wissenschaft des gültigen Schlussfolgerns ist zwar für einen kompetenten Umgang mit Argumenten extrem wichtig, in der Regel wird sie jedoch nur in mathematischen und philosophischen Studiengängen unterrichtet. Ziel des Workshops ist es, einige leicht nachvollziehbare logische Prinzipien für wissenschaftliches Arbeiten fruchtbar zu machen. Die Teilnehmenden lernen Techniken, die dabei helfen, Stärken und Schwächen von Argumenten schnell zu erkennen, Argumente präzise auf den Punkt zu bringen und in komplexen Debatten den Überblick zu behalten.

    This workshop is designed for those new to doctoral supervision and offers a practical introduction to key roles, expectations, and realities. It provides an overview of relevant institutional structures, policies, and resources, as well as the broader national context of doctoral supervision. Through guided reflection and interactive exchange, participants will explore what constitutes effective supervision across different phases of the doctorate and consider their own role and experiences as supervisors.     DOCTORAL and POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHERS

    In this workshop, we will take a closer look at the connection between mental health and the system academia. Together, we will explore which structural conditions, (supposed) traditions and prevailing attitudes can affect mental health and well-being. Participants will be introduced to the concept of Slow Science and invited to reflect on how researchers may themselves contribute to maintaining existing structures through their behavior, and what could be changed. Finally, participants will be encouraged to assemble a personal “first aid kit” to help them respond to future mental health challenges in academia.
    If participants wish, the workshop offers space to share personal experiences. However, there is no obligation to do so.

    What this workshop is not: a psychotherapeutic measure, a self-help group, the key to mental health.

    Ready to learn how to turn a long, complex doctorate into manageable components? This interactive workshop equips you with essential project management skills tailored to the unique demands of doctoral research. On Day 1, you will explore the fundamentals of project management in the context of doctoral work, including traditional and agile project management techniques such as Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Gantt charts, and agile sprints. Day 2 focuses on time and task management techniques for day-to-day research work, including Critical Path Analysis (CPA), Eisenhower matrix, timeboxing, and the Pomodoro technique, as well as communication practices for engaging key stakeholders such as supervisors. Through practical examples, case studies, guided reflection, and quiet time for individual work, you will engage with a range of techniques and evaluate how these can be adapted to different stages and aspects of your doctoral research.

They learn to distinguish between problems of project clarity, stakeholder alignment, workload and prioritisation, and day-to-day coordination. The focus is on identifying realistic options for intervention that fit the constraints typical of academic research environments.

    Möchten Sie Ihre wissenschaftliche Expertise in die politische Entscheidungsfindung einbringen, fragen sich aber, wie Sie dies am besten tun können?
    Dieses Seminar gibt Ihnen einen Überblick über die Formate und Methoden der wissenschaftlichen Politikberatung. Sie lernen, das politische System und seine Dynamiken besser zu verstehen, auch in Abgrenzung zum wissenschaftlichen System. Außerdem reflektieren wir unsere eigene Rolle als Wissenschaftler*innen und diskutieren die Grenzen und Fallstricke der wissenschaftlichen Politikberatung. Sie bekommen praktische Tipps für Ihren Einstieg in die wissenschaftliche Politikberatung und stärken durch praktische Übungen Ihre persönlichen Kompetenzen für diese wichtige Tätigkeit.
