Exam Schedule

The following gives you an overview of departmental exams. i.e. exams that take place after the teaching period. 

The exam scheduled to immediately follow the teaching period has to be registered during the general QISPOS registration period:

22.04.2025 - 13.06.2025

Exams that may also be taken as re-sits are registered during a later QISPOS registration period: 

18.08.2025 - 08.09.2025  (EFL)
18.08.2025-12.09.2025 (all other exams listed)

(Please note that QISPOS may offer you different buttons for registering an exam as a regular attempt or as a re-sit. Only one of those buttons will work for you.)

  • Introduction and Foundation Modules
    (1st Semester Bachelor)

    General information:

    The exams "Introduction to Language Learning in Primary School"  (BA G) and "Foundations I" (BA HRSGe, Zwei-Fach, BK) are offered twice at the end of the winter semester (February and March). The later date may be registered either as a first attempt or as a re-sit. We generally advise students to pick the first available exam dates whenever possible.
    Duration: 60 minutes (both exams)

  • Foundations II
    (2nd Semester Bachelor HRSGe, Zwei-Fach, BK)

    General information: The exams are offered twice at the end of the summer semester (July and September). The later date may be registered as a first attempt or as a re-sit. We generally advise students to pick the first available exam dates whenever possible.
    Duration:

    HRSGE: 60 minutes
    Zwei-Fach and BK: 120 minutes

  • Language Practice
    (2nd or 3rd Semester Bachelor G, HRSGe, Zwei-Fach, BK):

    General information:

    The ILS exam is offered once per semester (February and July)
    The Spoken English oral exams are offered once per semester, usually starting with the last week of classes. Appointments for the oral exams are made with your instructors via Learnweb.

    Duration: ILS (G, HRSGe): 60 minutes
    ILS (Zwei-Fach, BK): 120 minutes
    Spoken English (all programmes): 20 minutes

  • EFL & Classroom Discourse
    (4th semester Bachelor G, HRSGe, Zwei-Fach, BK, 2018 version)

    General information:

    The exam is offered twice at the end of the summer semester (July and September). The later date may be registered either as a first attempt or as a re-sit. The exam is designed based on the courses taught during the previous two semesters.

    As the EFL-module being replaced by the new ELE-module, the EFL-exam will no longer be offered after Sept. 2026. Students who have not passed the EFL-module by Oct. 2025 are strongly encouraged to change into the new exam regulations. 

    Duration: 120 minutes

  • Readings in Language, Literature and Culture
    (6th Semester Bachelor HRSGE, Zwei-Fach, BK) 

    General information:

    The exam is offered once at the end of the winter semester (February) and twice at the end of the summer semester (July and September). 

    An online exam is offered for students who take this exam in linguistics. An on-site exam is offered for students who take this exam in literary and cultural studies and for students combine literary and cultural studies and linguistics. Both exams take place at the same time.  The later date may be registered either as a first attempt or as a re-sit.

    As the “Readings” module is being replaced by the new elective modules “Surveys” and “Readings in Varieties of English”, the Readings exam will no longer be offered after July 2027. 

    Duration: 90 minutes

  • Readings in Varieties of English
    (5th or 6th Semester Bachelor HRSGE, Zwei-Fach, BK)  

    General information: The exam is held in pen & paper format and covers the two reading classes attended by the exam candidates. The exam is offered once at the end of the winter semester (February) and twice at the end of the summer semester (July and September). There will be an exception from this general scheme at the end of the winter semester 2025/26 when the first exam date will conincide with the last regular meeting of the Reading Class. 
    Duration: 60 minutes

  • Foundations of National and Transnational Studies

    (MA NTS, 1st semester)

    General information: The exam is offered once at the end of the winter semester (Feburary). 
    Duration: 180 minutes
