The Federal University of ABC (UFABC) is one of the youngest Brazilian universities. It is located in the industrial belt of São Paulo (SP), the largest city in Brazil, in a region known as ABC, 40 minutes from the capital. UFABC has two campuses in neighbouring cities, the Santo Andre campus and the Sao Bernardo do Campo campus, between which a free bus service operates.
Founded in 2006, the university has already established a reputation for high-level interdisciplinary research and teaching. At UFABC, degrees are earned in two phases. First, all students complete one of the two interdisciplinary degree programmes:
Bachelor in Science and Technology or Bachelor in Science and Humanities. Due to the concept of interdisciplinarity, students are free to choose their courses
(also from the other interdisciplinary Bachelor's programme).
The courses offered to exchange students at the Bachelor's and Master's level are the same as those offered to regular students.
There are many tourist attractions in nearby Sao Paulo. For weekend trips to nature or the beach, there are also various attractive destinations in other nearby areas.
