A number of special projects in research, teaching and academics are supported by friends and sponsors of the University of Münster. On the following pages, we present a selection of these projects and cordially invite you to join us in supporting the University. The University also strives to maintain close contact with former students and staff. As the University's largest network, the Alumni Club Universität Münster can help you stay in touch with other alumni and your alma mater. There are also alumni associations in faculties and institutes which strengthen the network in individual subject areas.

Scholarship ceremony 2023/2024

At this year's scholarship program celebration on 25 January, sponsors and scholarship holders came together in the auditorium of Münster Castle. Prof. Dr. Johannes Wessels, Rector of the University of Münster, presented the sponsors with certificates and thanked them for their support of talented students. In her lecture "Weniger Zeit, mehr Produktivität?", Prof. Dr. Julia Backmann, Chair of Center for Business Transformation, spoke about how the four-day week challenges current ways of thinking. A total of 305 ProTalent scholarship holders are being supported with around 1.1 million euros this funding year. You can find some impressions of the scholarship ceremony in our gallery.

Endowed professorships complement the university's range of courses

Endowed professorships have a long tradition at universities, including Münster. They are initiated and financed by donors who wish to carry out research in a specific field and develop new knowledge for the benefit of our society. Rectorate congratulates ProTalent scholarship holders

Ceremony for 305 talents / Funding amounts to 1.1 million euros

The University of Münster has congratulated the current ProTalent scholarship holders on their outstanding achievements and the support they have received. Prof. Dr. Ulrike Weyland, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Studies, thanked the 305 scholarship holders for their commitment in lecture hall H 1 - Stephanie Elias, ProTalent project coordinator, explained the details of the scholarship program. All scholarship holders received a certificate. You can find some impressions of the kick-off event in the gallery.

The University of Münster Foundation Münster

The University of Münster strives to achieve the highest quality in research and teaching. To this end, the University of Münster Foundation supports the University in its efforts to meet this goal. For example, the foundation funds the citizen science competition and awards scholarships to the best junior academics through the University’s ‘ProTalent’ scholarship programme.

Universitätsgesellschaft

Since 1918, the University Society Münster (Universitätsgesellschaft Münster) has provided interdisciplinary support to student organisations, cultural projects and model projects of excellence. The non-profit organisation supports projects for which public funding is unavailable or insufficient.

Funding associations

A large number of associations of friends and sponsors support projects at the University of Münster in the areas of research, teaching and culture. There are a number of sponsoring associations that promote projects at the faculty level in specific subjects and institutes and thus make special initiatives possible.

Alumni

The University of Münster is strongly committed to cultivating close and lasting ties with its former students and staff. To this end, the University founded the Alumni-Club Universität Münster in 2001. Since then its membership has grown to more than 26,000 registered alumni, making the Alumni Club the University’s largest network. We welcome not only past students, but also former academic and non-academic staff.
