Emeriti

Professors play an integral role in shaping academic life, learning and research at the University of Münster. Even after they retire, we wish to stay in touch with all our esteemed professors and promote the exchange between former colleagues.

Therefore, we have established a contact representative within the Fundraising Department  for all former professors. We invite all retired professors of the University of Münster to several exclusive events every year. The highlight is the big emeriti reception which takes place every two years.

If you belong to the group of former professors and do not yet receive our invitations, please send an email with your contact details to emeriti@uni-muenster.de. If you have any further questions, please contact Anja Najda.

We are looking forward to seeing you!

Second Emeriti Reception

150 retired and emeritus professors were guests at the Schloss in Münster on 19 September 2022 to visit their former workplace at the second Emeriti Reception of the University of Münster. In the Aula, Rector Prof. Dr. Johannes Wessels welcomed the former colleagues and reported on the latest developments at the University. An insight into a current research topic was given by Prof. Dr. Simon Lux, member of the board of directors of the Fraunhofer-Einrichtung Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle (FFB). In his lecture, he addressed the challenges of the energy storage systems of the future.
At the subsequent reception in the foyer of the Schloss, there was an opportunity to talk - and many a warm reunion was celebrated.

First Emeriti-Reception at the University of Muenster

A heartfelt reunion of a special kind was celebrated on February 20th 2018 in the auditorium (Aula) of the Schloss. The rector of the University of Münster, Prof. Dr. Johannes Wessels, had invited to the university's first emeriti-reception. Around 270 guests accepted the invitation and celebrated the meeting with former colleagues in a cheerful and vivid atmosphere. First, the rector gave an entertaining lecture on the latest developments at the University of Münster. The composition of the Rectorate, which has been in existence since 2017, current research priorities, the strategy of excellence as well as completed and planned construction projects were topics of his speech. The evening was accompanied by two young musicians of the Musikhochschule Münster. Afterwards, there was plenty of time for delightful conversations. All in all, it was agreed that this successful evening should be repeated.
