Am Institut für Theoretische Physik (ITP) der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster ist zum 01.10.2020 eine Stelle als
Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin / Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (WMA)
(Entgeltgruppe TV-L 13 (100%))
in der Arbeitsgruppe von Prof. Dr. U. Thiele zu besetzen. Die Beschäftigung erfolgt befristet für die Dauer von 24 Monaten mit der regelmäßigen Arbeitszeit von Angestellten (zurzeit 39 Stunden 50 Minuten wöchentlich).
Die Aufgaben umfassen einerseits die Unterstützung der Koordination des DFG Schwerpunktprogramms (SPP) 2171 „Dynamische Benetzung flexibler, adaptiver und schaltbarer Oberflächen“. Dies beinhaltet die Unterstützung und Sicherstellung der internen Organisation, Verwaltung und Kommunikation sowie Unterstützung der externen Vertretung und Darstellung des SPP, und den Aufbau und die Pflege einer strukturierten Sammlung von wissenschaftlichen Tutorien, die sowohl den Wissenstransfer zwischen den SPP-Projekten unterstützen als auch den vom SPP an die breitere wissenschaftliche Gemeinschaft.
Andererseits soll der/die WMA in geringerem Maße an Forschung und Lehre am Institut für Theoretische Physik der WWU mitwirken. Typische Lehraufgaben sind die Betreuung einer Projektgruppe des Interdisziplinären Praktikums „Nichtlineare Modellierung in den Naturwissenschaften“ und die Übungsgruppenorganisation für Bachelorkurse der Theoretischen Physik. In der Forschung wird der/die WMA selbstständig nichtlineare Phänomene theoretisch untersuchen, speziell im Bereich der Physik von Flüssigkeiten an Grenzflächen.
Voraussetzung für die Einstellung ist eine abgeschlossene oder nahezu abgeschlossene Promotion der Physik oder einer verwandten Disziplin. Um eine effiziente Interaktion mit den SPP-Gruppen zu ermöglichen, sollte der/die Bewerber/in mit dem wissenschaftlichen Feld des SPP vertraut sein, und Freude an wissenschaftlicher Kommunikation und Wissensvermittlung haben. Erfahrung in der Organisation wissenschaftlicher Veranstaltungen ist von Vorteil. Für den Forschungsanteil werden praktische Erfahrungen in der Behandlung von nichtlinearen partiellen Differentialgleichungen und ein großes Interesse an physikalischer Modellentwicklung sowie an der Untersuchung nichtlinearer Phänomene erwartet.

Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin / Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter)
(1.0fte, salary level TV-L 13)
in the group of Prof. Dr. U. Thiele. The fixed-term posts are available for a 24 months period and for the regular full employment time, i.e. at the moment 39 hours and 50 minutes per week. The probation period is 6 months.
On the one hand, the tasks consist of supporting the coordination of the DFG Priority Program (SPP) 2171 "Dynamic Wetting of Flexible, Adaptive and Switchable Surfaces". This includes the support and assurance of the internal organisation, administration and communication as well as the support of the external representation and representation of the SPP, and the establishment and maintenance of a structured collection of scientific tutorials, which strengthen the knowledge transfer between the SPP projects as well as from the SPP to the broader scientific community.
On the other hand, the candidate shall participate to a lesser extent in research and teaching at the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the WWU. Typical teaching tasks are the supervision of a project group of the Interdisciplinary Internship "Nonlinear Modelling in the Natural Sciences" and the organization of exercise groups for Bachelor courses in Theoretical Physics. In research, the candidate will independently investigate nonlinear phenomena theoretically, especially in the field of the physics of liquids at interfaces.
The prerequisite for employment is a completed or almost completed doctorate in physics or a related discipline. In order to enable an efficient interaction with the SPP groups, the applicant should be familiar with the scientific field of the SPP and enjoy scientific communication and knowledge transfer. Experience in organizing scientific events is desirable. For the research part, practical experience in the treatment of nonlinear partial differential equations and a great interest in physical model development as well as in the investigation of nonlinear phenomena in interfacial hydrodynamics are expected.
