W1-Juniorprofessur für Religionswissenschaft
(mit Tenure Track nach W2)
zu besetzen.
Die zukünftige Stelleninhaberin/der zukünftige Stelleninhaber soll das Fach Religionswissenschaft in dessen ganzer Breite in Forschung und Lehre exzellent vertreten. Der Schwerpunkt liegt im Bereich der allgemeinen und speziellen Religionsgeschichte. Der Arbeitsbereich der Professur soll insbesondere auf asiatischen, nicht-abrahamischen Religionen liegen. Die Stelle ist dem Seminar für Religionswissenschaft und Interkulturelle Theologie der Evangelisch-Theologischen Fakultät zugeordnet.
Der Schwerpunkt in der Lehre liegt in der Mitwirkung am interdisziplinären Zweifach-BA-Studiengang „Religionswissenschaft“, in der Mitwirkung an dem zur Zeit im Exzellenzcluster „Religion und Politik“ und am Centrum für religionsbezogene Studien (CRS) entwickelten Masterstudiengang und in der Mitwirkung an den Studiengängen der Evangelisch-Theologischen Fakultät im Fach „Religionswissenschaft und Interkulturelle Theologie“.
Die Professur kooperiert eng mit dem Exzellenzcluster „Religion und Politik“, dem Centrum für religionsbezogene Studien und dem Institut für Religionswissenschaft der Katholisch-Theologischen Fakultät. Die ausgeschriebene Professur soll die beiden an der WWU Münster vorhandenen religionswissenschaftlichen Professuren an der Evangelisch-Theologischen Fakultät und der Katholisch-Theologischen Fakultät ergänzen und maßgeblich zum Aufbau einer starken, national und international konkurrenzfähigen Religionswissenschaft an der WWU Münster beitragen.
Die Einstellungsvoraussetzungen sind ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium, pädagogische Eignung im Bereich der Hochschullehre und die besondere Befähigung zu wissenschaftlicher Arbeit, die in der Regel durch die Qualität der Promotion nachgewiesen wird. Die Ausschreibung richtet sich vorzugsweise an Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler in einer frühen Karrierephase.
Die Stelle ist zunächst auf drei Jahre befristet. Nach einer positiven Zwischenevaluierung wird die Stelle um drei Jahre verlängert. Nach einer positiven Abschlussevaluation wird die Stelle in eine unbefristete W2-Professur überführt.

The Faculty of Protestant Theology (FB 1) of the University of Münster (WWU), Germany, seeks to fill the position of a
W1-level Assistant Professorship (Juniorprofessur) in Religious Studies
(with W2-tenure track)
at the earliest possible date.
The selected candidate will represent with excellence, in both research and teaching, the subject of Religious Studies in its entire range. The focus of the professorship is on the general and special history of religions. The area of work of the professorship shall be especially in Asian, non-Abrahamic religions. The position is assigned to the Institute of Religious Studies and Inter-Faith Theology of the Faculty of Protestant Theology (FB 1).
The teaching activities involve participation in the interdisciplinary double-major BA programme “Religious Studies”, participation in the MA programme currently under development in the Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics” and the Centre of Religious Studies (CRS), and participation in degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Protestant Theology in the subject “Religious Studies and Intercultural Theology”.
The professorship closely cooperates with the Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics”, the Centre of Religious Studies (CRS) and the Institute of Religious Studies at the Faculty of Catholic Theology (FB 2). The advertised position is intended to complement the existing two professorships in the Faculty of Protestant Theology and the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the WWU and to contribute significantly to the development of Religious Studies as a strong, nationally and internationally competitive subject area at the University of Münster.
The prerequisites for consideration include a higher education degree, pedagogical aptitude in university teaching and special academic qualification, usually substantiated by the quality of the candidate’s doctoral thesis. The advertised position is preferably aimed at academics in an early phase of their career.
The position is initially limited to three years with the possibility of a three-year extension following a positive interim evaluation. Upon receiving a positive final evaluation, the candidate will be granted a permanent W2-level appointment.
