Partner universities

In addition to the Erasmus programme, the University of Münster has concluded numerous student exchange agreements with universities around the world. Each year the partner universities set aside a certain number of exchange places to which basically every student at the University of Münster can apply – provided their subject of study is offered at the host university. Further information can be found below under the corresponding tabs for the partner countries.

Important information

  • All applications for study visits abroad to non-European partner universities must be submitted to the International Office by 31 January (for admision to the winter semester) and 31 July (for admission to the summer semester of the following year).
  • Please submit your application documents to the International Office by the relevant deadline by e-mail in the form of a PDF file for the attention of Dr. Petra Hille (petra.hille@uni-muenster.de).
  • You have the opportunity to apply for a maximum of three exchange places at key partner universities. Please send us a PDF file with the required application documents for each of your applications.
  • After submitting the required documents to the International Office, it normally takes about four months until applicants receive confirmation of acceptance.

Please bear in mind that not all partner universities offer the same subjects and degree programmes as the University of Münster. Therefore, if you are interested in a particular university, please check whether your subject of study is offered there. Some partner universities only offer undergraduate (i.e. bachelor-level) courses. Other universities require a language certificate. Please note that the Language Centre only issues language certificates in English (DAAD Language Certificate; http://spz.uni-muenster.de/de/sprachzeugnisse [de]). If you require a language certificate in a language other than English, please speak with a professor in the respective language/literature department.

Please note: Language certificates must not be older than three years at the time of application, unless our partner universities have higher requirements.

We strongly urge applicants to visit the website of the Federal Foreign Office [de] for information on travel advisories and warnings prior to departure – especially for regions with critical security situations. As a further safety precaution, we also recommend registering with the ELEFAND [de] database (electronic registration of Germans abroad).

If you require assistance with financing a semester abroad at one of our partner universities, the PROMOS scholarship can provide up to six months of funding for study visits worldwide. Click here for more information.
Scholarship recipients are chosen by a selection committee at the International Office – not the applicant's faculty. The PROMOS funding budget contains a separate pot, from which study visits at partner universities of the University of Münster are financed.
