Funding for two exceptional mathematics students

Natalia Sampedro Loro from Spain and Anar Abdullayev from Azerbaijan are studying in the third semester of the English-language Mathematics Master's programme at the University of Münster. And they are doing so with such dedication and success that they have each been awarded a monthly scholarship of 1,000 Euros for one year by the Berlin-based foundation “Wübben Stiftung Wissenschaft”.

Funding for student research projects

The Rectorate allocates 50,000 euros a year to support student research projects. Funding is awarded on the basis of an evaluation conducted by the Rectorate Committee for Research Affairs (RKF). Individual projects can receive up to 5,000 euros in funding.

Continuing education at the University of Münster

In 1998, the German Higher Education Framework Act was amended to make continuing education one of the core responsibilities of German universities together with research and teaching. Ever since, the University of Münster has offered high-quality continuing education programmes for academics and managerial staff, as well as executives and board members in business, administration and the service sector. The continuing education providers at the University of Münster are the Münster University Continuing Education and JurGrad [de].

Research profile

The University of Münster promotes internationally renowned, cutting-edge research in mathematics, the humanities and social sciences, the natural sciences and life sciences. These areas comprise outstanding basic research and application-oriented projects.

The Clusters of Excellence of the University of Münster

The two Clusters of Excellence, which the University of Münster has acquired as part of the federal and state Excellence Strategy, comprise faculties from the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. The Department of Mathematics was successful with the Cluster of Excellence "Mathematics Münster: Dynamics - Geometry - Structure". The Cluster of Excellence "Religion and Politics" (currently phasing out) comprises around 200 researchers in the humanities and social sciences from 20 disciplines.

The University of Münster actively supports its junior researchers as part of its academic personnel development strategy.
