We offer scholarships to international Master's students who wish to complete a full programme of study or spend up to six months studying at Mathematics Münster.
Full grant scholarships are awarded to talented students who will contribute to the international research environment of the Cluster of Excellence Mathematics Münster at the University of Münster. The scholarship holders will enjoy flexibility and academic freedom in the University of Münster's Masters programme, meeting students and researchers from all over the world.

WHO CAN APPLY?
Students who have completed a first degree (bachelor's, diploma or comparable academic degree) before the start of the scholarship. Applicants must meet the admission requirements for the upcoming winter term or be enrolled in their first semester in the M.Sc. Mathematics programme at the time of the deadline. Applicants are only eligible if they have not spent more than twelve months within the last three years in Germany prior to the start of the scholarship.
WHAT IS FUNDED?
The scholarship offers monthly payments of 992 euros (corresponding to BAföG), in addition to a one-time lump sum for travel expenses (the exact value will depend on your country of origin), and the semester fee at the University of Münster.

WHAT ARE THE SELECTION CRITERIA?
Applicants will be selected by the Masters Admission Committee of M.Sc. Mathematics Münster. They will be rated according to their academic excellence and motivation to pursue studies at the University of Münster. The best candidates will be invited to an online interview with the selection committee. The committee will then forward its recommendation to the executive board of Mathematics Münster for the final funding decision.

DURING THE SCHOLARSHIP
While it is intended that scholarship holders receive funding for the complete two-year period of the master's programme, the scholarship is granted for twelve plus twelve months. The extension of the scholarship to the second year is subject to a positive evaluation, based on a two-page report of activities and your transcript of records.
Data Protection Policy for the Master’s scholarships of Mathematics Münster
Short-term scholarships are offered to interested master's students in their 2nd year to visit Mathematics Münster for a period of 2 to 6 months. In this programme students will have the opportunity to prepare their master’s thesis or a related research project under the mentorship of one of the several distinguished researchers in different areas of mathematics, in a friendly and stimulating environment.

WHO CAN APPLY?
The programme is aimed at master's students who have already completed at least one year in their home institution.
WHAT IS FUNDED?
The scholarship funds research stays in preparation of the master's thesis or a related research project for a period of 2 to 6 months. Funds may cover a monthly payment of up to € 850, semester fees and travel allowance, depending on the country of origin and other potential sources of funding. The amount of each scholarship (i.e., whether travel expenses and/or monthly partial scholarships and/or semester fee allowances are included) is decided by the Master’s Scholarships Selection Committee. The executive board of Mathematics Münster takes the final funding decision.
WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS AND REQUIRED DOCUMENTS?
The stay promotes international mobility, cooperation and networks as well as the intercultural competence of the student, i.e., the student has not lived or carried out her/his main activity in Germany for more than 12 months in the last three years prior to the application deadline. The applicant must be enrolled as a master's student for the whole duration of the fellowship. A proficient knowledge of English (B2) is required.
Applications should contain:
a statement of purpose containing a project description or study plan,
your curriculum vitae (in English),
academic transcript of records and copies of degree certificates,
a description of advanced math classes already taken (in English) and
a detailed plan of the necessary financial support.
