Established Researchers

As an investigator at Mathematics Münster (MM) you profit from the vivid and international environment. Connect with more than 40 other professors and approximately 150 early career researchers from different mathematical fields.

All investigators benefit from the amenities of the Cluster of Excellence. Our programmes, measures, and initiatives are deliberately designed towards implementing fully integrated approaches across mathematical fields (see objectives). Mathematics Münster provides funding and opportunities that foster scientific exchange and bridge mathematical fields — from bridging‑research positions and exchange platforms to sabbatical programmes.

Conferences, lectures, and colloquia

A wide range of talks, lectures, and seminars with international and local researchers is hosted at MM. MM also hosts plenty of conferences and workshops, also within the Young Mathematician Conference Network, or as a focused series in our Focus Programme.

Collaboration and scientific exchange

Opportunities for established researchers based in Münster

Conferences and workshops - Mathematics Münster can contribute financial and organisational resources for a thematic event series, for instance, a conference followed by a working seminar and a lecture series, through the Focus Programme.

Invited visits - The Research Fellowship Programmes make it possible to host distinguished mathematicians or promising early-career researchers for extended stays, as well as to arrange shorter visits.

Travel assistance - Funding for international travel, wheter for joint research visits or for attending conferences is available upon request via the internal funding portal.

Start-up Funds for Emerging Project (STEP) - The STEP programme offers backup financing for high‑potential initiatives such as ERC proposals.

Research sabbaticals - Teaching exemptions are granted to enable intensive work on connecting topics, either between two Münster-based investigators or between a Fellow and their MM host.

Interaction - The Common Room, a centrally located workspace equipped with large blackboards, serves as a shared venue for informal interaction, fostering exchange across all mathematical fields and among researchers at all career stages.

Break down barriers

We welcome people of all backgrounds and identities and by removing barriers we foster a research community that is diverse, inclusive and free from discrimination, where everyone can thrive.

Enhancing the compatibility of academic work and family life, providing structural and financial support that eases the career-family balance for researchers is one of our goals.
