Mathematical Modelling of Atherosclerotic Plaque Formation

Most vascular pathologies arise from atherosclerosis. Atherogenesis is an inflammatory process mainly triggered by low-density lipoproteins entering the intimal layer of arteries. This phenomenon in turn is regionally related to a blood flow dependent change in endothelial shear stress. We aim at numerical modeling of atherogenesis based on multiparametric imaging data of vessel architecture, blood flow and vascular inflammation. Simulation-based characterisation of the dependence of plaque formation on critical parameters should finally support our understanding of plaque development.

    Further Projects

Mathematics and Computer Sciences always have been my passion.

As pupil, I developed for the university project  lernserver - indivuelle Rechtschreibförderung the central diagnosis component of a individual spelling support. The C++ (and Visual Basic.Net) programm is still in use to reliably classify single words containing a high number of spelling mistakes (e.g. five). Results from commercial products have been outperformed.
