“LANGUAGE IS A WEAPON AGAINST FASCISM”

An interview with Dr. Julia Bodenburg and Dr. Katharina Grabbe on the “Science Against Fascism” initiative (WigeFa)

The nationwide initiative launched by “studis gegen rechts” and numerous scholars had called for a week of action to draw attention to the danger of fascist tendencies. Fascist tendencies threaten academic freedom and diversity in teaching.

Julia Bodenburg and Katharina Grabbe support the initiative: “According to the Higher Education Framework Act, universities are obligated to empower students so that they can function within a democratic, constitutional, and liberal state. That is what we are defending!”

The full interview appeared in the Westfälische Nachrichten on June 6, 2026.

Announcement: Recitation Competition Hosted by the Center for Rhetoric

The Center for Rhetoric, Communication, and Theater Practice invites you to the international “Rainer Maria Rilke” recitation competition on October 31, 2026, at the University of Münster’s Studiobühne—students of the art of speech may register now!

Once again this year, the Center for Rhetoric is organizing a recitation competition for students of the performing arts. This time, the focus is on the poetic works of Rainer Maria Rilke, who passed away 100 years ago, in December 1926. Students of the performing arts are cordially invited to apply. Substantial prize money awaits the winners. All details regarding registration and the competition process can be found here.
