“Rainer Maria Rilke” International Recitation Competition

31 October 2026, 8.00 pm

Fifteen young recitation artists will compete to deliver the most compelling rendition of Rainer Maria Rilke’s poems. Students of drama and speech arts, along with a few brave amateurs, will demonstrate how they handle the art of sound, rhythm and the interpretation of the vivid, subtle word choices in Rilke’s world-famous poetry. The audience can share in the excitement and award the audience prize at the end! The competition is unique in the Federal Republic of Germany and in other German-speaking countries.

Presenter: Dr Andrea Kresimon | Concept and organisation: Centre for Rhetoric, Communication and Theatre Practice.
