We are delighted that Dr. Jan Nienhaus visits Mathematics Münster as a Young Research Fellow. He is a Hedrick Assistant Adjunct Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research lies in the field of Riemannian geometry, with a particular focus on lower curvature bounds and their interactions with symmetry and topology. Among other achievements, he has made significant contributions to the study of the Hopf conjecture under symmetry assumptions and to the construction of new Einstein metrics on even-dimensional spheres.

During his stay at our Cluster, he will collaborate with Dennis Wulle on positively curved orbifolds with symmetry and on the Hopf conjecture for orbifolds. He is also one of the organisers of the “Young Geometers Meeting”, which will take place from 31 August to 4 September 2026.
