100 Years DAAD - The Anniversary Year at University of Münster

Proudly connected with DAAD

The University of Münster is delighted to commemorate a significant anniversary: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025. This milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on the long-standing partnership between all kinds of university institutions and the DAAD, which has facilitated numerous collaborative research endeavors, academic exchanges, and mobility programmes.

100 years of the DAAD: For the University of Münster, this means valuable internationalisation measures based on mutual trust and institutional reliability at a strategic level and for individual collaborations.

The numbers speak for themselves: over 100 years, the DAAD has supported millions of scholars, researchers, and students in their pursuit of knowledge and cultural exchange. But what do these statistics mean in human terms? Find out about personal stories, measurable outcomes and enduring impact highlighting the outcomes of all funding programmes - an overview.

The DAAD Alumni Network

In and Out Mobility – an important network spanning decades

Maria Homeyer from the International Office attended the ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the DAAD as a representative of the University of Münster.

Her professional and personal career is closely linked to DAAD ‘Go East’ funding. As an alumna of the 2003 cohort, she was able to successfully incorporate the funded study visit into her master's degree in political science and use it for her international career. The grant also had an impact on her private life – her ‘DAAD East-West babies’ are now 8 and 17 years old.

The musical accompaniment for the ceremony in Berlin was provided by current DAAD scholarship holder Areg Navasardyan, a highly qualified violinist from the Münster University of Music.
