The research group for Molecular Evolution and Bioinformatics, led by Prof Bornberg-Bauer, in the Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity, at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a

 

Doctoral Research Associate
Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in
(salary level TV-L E 13, 65%)

 

at the earliest possible date. We are offering this fixed-term part-time position (65% FTE) for 3 years. Fulltime employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

The position is tied to working towards a doctoral qualification.

 

Your tasks:

  • Mathematical modelling of molecular fitness landscapes
  • Computational analysis of genomic and proteomic data using cutting edge methods

 

Our expectations:

  • A master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics or bioinformatics with experience and/or the desire to excel in a biological area is essential.
  • A background in biocomputing and bioinformatics, as well as experience using Python, Linux and Bash are required.
  • Experience managing scientific projects in data management and writing publications is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, oral and written fluency in English are essential.
  • German language skills are not a requirement but a willingness to learn would be advantageous.
