for the externally funded project “Erasmus Mundus Master in Geospatial Technologies”. We are offering a fixed-term full-time position to be filled by 1 March 2024 and continuing until 31 August 2027.

The project “Erasmus Mundus Master in Geospatial Technologies” ( is a joint European master’s programme run by three university partners in Portugal, Spain and Germany. WWU is coordinating the programme. The advertised position will contribute towards the implementation of this programme. The candidate will join the situated computing lab at ifgi, which conducts research in areas such as location-based services, smart cities and human-computer interaction in the context of solving spatial problems. The position also provides opportunities to further your own academic development andoffers great freedom with regard to your own research, teaching and proposal writing.


Your tasks:

  • Contributing to the implementation and organisation of the master’s programme
  • Managing the outreach and dissemination activities of the master’s programme
  • Teaching courses within the master’s programme
  • Supervising theses and advising students in the master’s programme
  • Contributing to research activities such as user studies, paper and proposal writing


Our expectations:

  • A PhD in geoinformatics, computer science or a related discipline is required.
  • A proven research track record in geoinformatics, computer science or a related discipline is essential.
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following areas (or a related one) is advantageous:
  • Location-based services
  • Citizen science and smart cities
  • Human-computer interaction
  • Geovisualisation
  • Prior experience teaching, supervising and advising international students is highly desirable.
  • The ability to work independently and effectively in an international and interdisciplinary team is essential.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English is a prerequisite for the position.
  • German language skills are advantageous but not required.
