The research group for Molecular Evolution and Bioinformatics, lead by Prof Bornberg-Bauer, in the Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity, at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a

 

Doctoral Research Associate
Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in
(salary level TV-L E 13, 65%)

 

at the earliest possible date. We are offering this fixed term part-time position (65% FTE) for 3 years.

The position is tied to working towards a doctoral qualification.

 

Your tasks:

  • Computational analysis and prediction of protein structures and  complexes and their interactions.

 

Our expectations:

  • A graduate degree in natural sciences (i.e. German Diplom and / or master’s degree) and research experience in a biological area OR
  • A graduate degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics or bioinformatics (i.e. German Diplom and / or master’s degree) with experience and/or desire to excel in a biological area.
  • A background in biocomputing, bioinformatics, experience with python, linux, bash and tools such as rosetta, alphafold is required.
  • Knowledge of experimental techniques such as handling PCRs and protein expression is an advantage, as are previous publications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including oral and written fluency in English. German language skills are not a requirement but a willingness to learn would be advantageous.
