  • What you should bring

What is most important to us? That you have already engaged with the vocational training profession and have a genuine interest. And otherwise? In the job advertisement for your vocational training profession, you will find our requirements for you.

You are still not quite sure which vocational training profession is right for you? Take the opportunity and do a internship with us! Get to know different areas, gain your first experiences and find out what really suits you.

  • The path of your application

    1. You send us your application documents online via our online application portal.
    2. We review your application documents.
    3. We get to know each other: Your application documents convince us - wonderful, then we would like to get to know you personally! We invite you to our selection procedure, which will take place on-site or digitally. We cannot invite all candidates for an interview. You may also receive a rejection from us.
    4. You receive feedback: Of course, you want to receive feedback from us promptly after the interview. We strive to give you telephone or written feedback as soon as possible. However, this can take up to three weeks until you hear from us due to the approval of the committees (Staff Council, Representative for People with Severe Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses, Gender Equality Award).
    5. We offer you the vocational training position: After you have received a telephone confirmation from us, it will become formal. We need some documents from you, such as proof of your health insurance and your bank details. After that, you will receive the employment contract from us.
    6. You start with us: Once all formalities are clarified, we look forward to your training start. We want you to feel comfortable with us from the very beginning and ensure a good arrival at the University of Münster with a great welcome offer.
  • What belongs in your application?

    • Application letter with your personal contact details (telephone number, email) and your motivation for the apprenticeship,

    • if applicable, certificate of voluntary work and/or part-time jobs if available,
    • if applicable, copy of the disabled person’s pass (if applicable) for candidates with a disability.

  • Infos and tips for the interview

What can you expect in the interview? We want to get to know you personally and give you the opportunity to find out more about your education at the University of Münster – the whole thing usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes. Feel free to bring any questions that came up during your preparation.

    Interview structure

    • Introduction: We will introduce you to all participants (training manager, trainer, the Youth and Trainee Representatives and, if necessary, the Representative for People with Severe, Long-term Impairments) and explain the course of the interview.
    • Self-introduction: You tell us about yourself and answer our questions – honestly and authentically.
    • Asking questions: Now you have the chance to ask us questions and find out more about the university as your possible training company. You do have questions?
    • Conclusion: At the end, we will give you important details about the education and inform you when you can expect a response.

For many training occupations, the selection interview is the last step before offering a training position. In the industrial-technical and skilled trades occupations, it may be that we invite you to a trial day at the end.

    General tips for your interview

    • Prepare well and plan enough time.
    • Be punctual!
    • Deal intensively with the vocational training occupation and the university.
    • Take your time for your answers and ask if you do not understand something.
    • Nervousness is quite normal... and remember – we are a bit nervous too, after all we are applying to you as your future employer!
