Theses

The papers must be submitted on time and incl. declaration of plagiarism, hard bound (no spiral binding!). The work must be accompanied by two CDs.

Registration of master’s theses

Look for the appropriate form in the tab forms. Please fill out the form of your major/degree programme and have it signed by your first assessor. Then submit the completed and signed form to the Examinations Office. We will send you a letter notifying you of the final thesis submission deadline.

We do not accept registration forms for master’s theses from Examinations Office I !

Degree thesis submission
You can hand in your thesis in several ways:

  • in person
  • through an acquaintance, family member etc. on your behalf
  • delivery outside of consultation hours by prior arrangement
  • postal delivery (important: be sure to request a receipt; we recommend sending the thesis as a package or by registered mail)
  • Deadline postbox at the Schloss (Schlossplatz 2 – right wing of the building)

Please note:

Make sure to write the address of the Examinations Office of the Mathematical and Natural Scientific Faculty on the envelope, as well as the name of the responsible contact person.

Also note that envelopes must be under 5 cm in thickness to fit inside the deadline postbox slot. If necessary, divide the thesis in parts and submit it in several envelopes!

If you send your thesis by post or drop it into the deadline postbox, it will be considered submitted on time if it was sent/dropped off by the submission deadline.

A plagiarism statement must be included in the bound thesis. You can find a template of the statement on our form template web page.

A note on plagiarism

A work is considered plagiarised if partial or entire texts by third persons are copied and presented verbatim or nearly word-for-word as one’s own academic work. Not only do such acts run counter to good scientific practice, they are also a form of intellectual theft and thereby violate copyright law.
