User IDs

Every member of the University of Münster should have a central user account and two passwords, the standard and the network access password.

The network access password is necessary every time, when you want to use your own PC to log in to the university network, i.e. for WIFI or using a VPN from home. For other tasks like using your email-account, log into websites or ComputerLab PCs , etc., you will need the standard password.

Students get their user account with the immatriculation together with their student ID, faculty and staff get theirs automatically from the human resources. If you are a member of the university and do not have a user account, you will find on the following website of the WWU IT the necessary request forms and advice:

Forms

However, it is much more likely that you already have your ID and you have just forgotten or lost it. In that case, please consult the

WWU IT.

Should you already have your user identification and your standardpassword, but lack the network access password, you can allocate a network access password to yourself on the following website:

MyNWZ

Guest accounts

If you are not a member of the university, but are a guest in a workgroup of the departments of biology, chemistry/pharmacy or physics , you can apply for a guest account in order to access certain services of the university in consultation with the head of the work group.

Further instructions on how to apply for a guest account can be found here.

Email accounts

If you require an email adress for workgroups, institutes, projects, conferences etc. which should not be the personal account of an employee, you can apply for a pure email account in addition to your personal account. Additional email accounts may only be requested by University employees, not by assistants or students.

Further instructions on how to apply for an email account can be found here.

Function accounts

If you need access to the WiFi for IoT devices, for example, you can apply for a so-called function account. Function accounts may only be applied for by employees of the university, but not by assistants or students.

Further instructions on how to apply for a function account can be found here.
