Structure-based and data-oriented methods for the computational molecular design of bioactive compounds
Abstract: My research interest lies in the development and application of computational methods in rational drug design with focus on structure-based design and ‘big data’ driven decisions in order to develop bioactive molecules and to understand selectivity and promiscuity of protein-ligand interactions. This work is generally aimed at applying and improving the success of computational methods in delivering novel and safe small molecule therapeutics
CV: After undergradutes studies in Pharmacy and his PhD with Prof. Klebe in Marburg, as well as Postdoc stays in Cambridge and with a company in Schwabenheim, Dr. Koch worked as an independent group leader in Dortmund and since 2019 in Münster. He is an Associated Partner of the German Center for Infection Research and was awarded a Young Researcher Award from the German Pharmaceutical Society, an interdisciplinary award within the DFG funded priority program “Algorithms for Big Data”, and the 2020 Innovation Award in Medicinal/Pharmaceutical Chemistry for outstanding scientific achievements of a young researcher by the subdivision Medicinal Chemistry of the German Chemical Society and the subdivision Medicinal/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the German Pharmaceutical Society.
