Early-career grants and support programme for outstanding, international women postdocs

With the WiRe - Women in Research Fellowship programme, the University of Münster supports international postdoctoral  women researchers in conducting research projects in cooperation with professors at our university. The programme's goals include attracting and retaining outstanding international early-career researchers, as well as providing targeted support to female researchers at the critical postdoctoral stage. A particular focus of the programme lies on science communication: fellows receive training in effective science communication and are involved in various activities and formats to make their research findings accessible to a broad audience.

The programme was initiated by the Department of Researchers & Staff at the International Office and is being implemented and further developed here.

German Humboldt-Network e.V.

Strengthening Regional Group Westphalia through collaboration with the International Office

The German Humboldt-Network e.V. offers a forum of encounter for the "Humboldt Family" in Germany with the intention

  • to maintain the personal contact of the alumni of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) beyond the scholarship phase and to intensify the exchange with each other
  • to facilitate mutual assistance for the integration and professional orientation of alumni of the AvH in Germany
  • to provide advice for the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation from the perspective of the alumni and to get into dialogue with other Humboldt Associations.
  • to deal with our modern society and its current changes based on the diverse experience with different cultures of our members.

The „Humboldt Family“ embraces

  • all scientists selected by the 'Alexander von Humboldt Foundation' (AvH) - whether they have just received a scholarship or have been (back) in Germany since a long time
  • longtime hosts and members of selection committees, if they have also conducted research abroad.

The German Humboldt-Network e.V. (DHN) is organized in regional groups. By this we ensure that each interested scientist in Germany – being member of the DHN or its guest – is able to participate in our diverse activities with reasonable effort. The Westphalia Regional Group covers the regions of Münster, Osnabrück, Vechta, Bielefeld and Paderborn. In Münster and Osnabrück, the Regional Group organises lecture evenings in collaboration with the Researcher & Staff department (International Office), to which all former and current Humboldt Fellows and other visiting scholars from abroad are invited.
