The archaeological heritage of Sudan and its relevance today

Lecture in English with German translation

Dr Ahmed Adam, University of Khartoum

In his lecture, Dr Ahmed Adam will present Sudan's archaeological heritage and discuss its significance today. During the current war, cultural heritage has been looted or destroyed. It is particularly noteworthy that German museums hold some of the world's most important collections of Sudanese archaeological and ethnographic objects. These collections are a valuable source of information for scientific research into Sudanese culture. Dr Adam researches these collections and aims to share his knowledge with people beyond borders, particularly those in Sudan. By doing so, he hopes to contribute to a more pluralistic and inclusive Sudan, one that goes beyond the country's historical and political fragmentation. Dr Ahmed Adam is Associate Professor of Archaeology at the University of Khartoum.
