Understanding Germany: History, Politics and Society

Invitation to a lecture series in the summer semester 2016

The Institute of Political Science of the University of Münster together with the Students’ Society is organising a lecture series in the summer semester 2016 entitled “Understanding Germany: History, Politics and Society” with an accompanying tutorial. The lectures are open to everyone but are specifically aimed at displaced persons, who would like to learn more about the history, politics and society of Germany. They take place every week from 13th April from 4pm to 6pm in the lecture theatre SCH 100.2 at the Institute of Political Science, Scharnhorststr. 100. and are given alternately by lecturers of the institute. After the 90-minute lectures, students of political science are offering more in-depth tutorials and the chance to get to know one another.

The level of the lectures is on a par with high-school level. Lectures will be in English and therefore require at least a basic knowledge of the language. Lecture material will be provided in German and English. Public transport costs within Münster may be partly reimbursed.

Those who attend regularly can receive a certificate at the end of the semester.

The Institute of Political Science and the Students’ Society is asking all those involved in refugee work to promote the event and, where possible, to accompany those interested to the first lectures.

The coordinator at the Institute of Political Science is Dr. Matthias Freise (freisem@uni-muenster.de)

The lecture time-table is attached.
