On December 10th, the Brazil Centre organized the 5th annual meeting of Brazilian alumni. The meeting was held virtually for the second year in a row, which once again allowed the participation of alumni from different parts of Brazil.

The Münster International Peace Research Initiative (MIPRI) of the University of Münster (WWU) awards Peace Research Prizes to young researchers (PhDs, postdocs) for innovative research projects that fall within the broad spectrum of Peace and Conflict Research.

In the framework of the strategic partnership project wwu.usp and in cooperation with AUCANI/USP, the Brazil Centre offers weekly virtual office hours for consultations about cooperation possibilities and mobility between the University of Münster and the University of São Paulo

On 12 November 2021, the University of Münster (WWU) and its Faculty of Law organised, in collaboration with the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), the first webinar from the “STF & WWU Webinar Series”.

The webinar "COVID-19 and its impact on fundamental rights", organized by the WWU in cooperation with the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF), will take place on 12 November at 3pm (CET).

The Brazil Centre of the University of Münster alongside the Liaison Office São Paulo of other German universities invites prospective post-doctoral researchers to this Opportunities Online-Workshop for Brazilian candidates.

Under the thematic leadership and moderation of Prof. Dr. Sabine Schlacke, the Brazil Centre promoted, on 23 and 24 September, the last workshop of the Strategic Partnership Project wwu.usp, whose funding by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) ends this year.

On October 7, the German Centre for Research and Innovation São Paulo (DWIH-SP) organized a virtual event with a series of lectures by its supporting institutions.

On 23 September, the first edition of the "Data Talks" series was carried out on the topic "Smart Cities in 2021: advances and challenges". For this first talk – moderated by the Humboldt Fellow at Münster University (WWU) and alumna of the University of São Paulo (USP) Jessica Voigt Quintino Pereira – her host professor Prof. Dr. Nobert Kersting of the Institute of Political Science at Münster University (IfPOL-WWU) and Prof. Dr. Ana Carla Bliacheriene of the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities at the University of São Paulo (EACH-USP) were invited.

The Brazil Centre of the WWU, as a supporting member, will participate in the “Open Windows Day” of the German Centre or Research and Innovation São Paulo (DWIH-SP).

In its ninth edition, the German-Brazilian Innovation and Sustainability Congress, organized by the German-Brazilian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) and co-hosted by the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH-SP), will have Jun.- Prof. Dr. Stephan von Delft, junior professor of chemistry and entrepreneurship at WWU, on its panel of speakers.

The joint call for applications of the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD and the Brazilian funding agency CAPES for doctoral scholarships to pursue research in Germany was recently launched.

The University of Münster (WWU) will be represented at the 73rd Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC) by its Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Knowledge Transfer, Prof. Dr. Michael Quante.

On 7, 9 and 11 June, the second edition of the DAAD Open Windows Week took place. WWU, along with other universities and funding organisations, was present in the sessions on studying and doing research in Germany.

The Journal of Physical Chemistry has dedicated a Virtual Special Issue to Prof. Dr. Hellmut Eckert in honour of his 65th birthday.

Within the framework of the Strategic Partnership of the Universities of Münster and São Paulo, wwu.usp, are offered funding for research stays. Application deadline of the 2nd and last round: 15 June 2021.

The University of Münster is prominently represented this year at the 9th German-Brazilian Dialogue on Science, Research and Innovation on "Cities and Climate – The Multi-Level Governance Challenge".

Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (WWU) participated on 6 May 2021 in the session "German academic higher education system and scholarship opportunities" of the virtual FAUBAI conference of the Brazilian Association for International Education.

On 30 April 2021, the meeting "Friends of the Brazil Centre" took place again in a virtual format.

The PROBRAL programme, a cooperation between the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES), has launched a new call. The deadline is 21/22 May 2019.

International names in classical music were invited to the 7th Cello Festival of Ouro Branco in Minas Gerais, which took place virtually this time. It included Prof. Matias de Oliveira Pinto from the University of Music (WWU) and WWU alumnus Fábio Presgrave.

The WWU together with other institutions took part in the session “Study in Germany” of the congress “University Meetings” organised by the UFC on last 11 March.

The Konrad-Adenauer Foundation awards full scholarships to international students for a Master's degree, a doctorate or a research stay in Germany. Application deadline: 28 March 2021.

The Faculty of Biology of the WWU is organising their 1st international virtual career event, which is aimed at (graduate) students who are thinking about their next career steps.

The "Brazilian Seminars" developed by PUC-Rio is, the international summer programme, takes place this year.

The project "Transformation and Sustainability Governance in South American Bioeconomies (SABio)" examines to what extent and in which ways the development of bioeconomies in the Southern Cone of South America may support a transition to inclusive and sustainable development.

Since 2018, WWU's Brazil Centre participated in the postdoc seminar organized by the DAAD Information Centre in Santiago.

The UFMG is offering this year’s Summer School on Brazilian Studies in digital format. Application deadline: February 1, 2021 (via Brazil Centre).

The coordinator of the Centre for Research Communication of the Cluster of Excellence "Religion and Politics" of the University of Münster, Viola van Melis, participated on 2 December 2020 in the round table of SBPC "Challenges of Communicating Science to Society".

The virtual event "Getting to know Münster University" was held on 18 November, in order to present to the academic community of the UFC the different possibilities of joint activities with the WWU.

In cooperation with the Freie Universität Berlin, the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, the University of Potsdam and the Technical Universities of Berlin and Munich, the WWU has organised the annual Workshop Postdoc in Germany - Brazil 2020 virtually for the first time.

On the 24th November 2020, the 4th edition of the Alumni meeting was held, which has already taken place twice in São Paulo and once in Porto Alegre and which, due to the pandemic, was organised for the first time as a virtual event.

The University of Münster was invited to the information event on study and research opportunities in Germany alongside TUM, DFG and AvH as part of the Academic Integration Week at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV).
 

Prof. Dr. Marcelo Parreira do Amaral, from the Institute of Educational Sciences and member of the Brazil Centre at the WWU, participated as a speaker in the third edition of the DWIH-SP Online Talks.
