Welcome to the Brazil Centre!

At Münster University we offer comprehensive advice and support on exchange issues and cooperation activities with Brazil. Via our Liaison Office in São Paulo, we promote the university in Brazil and provide advice to those Brazilians interested in study and research opportunities at our university. Thereby, we continuously expand and enhance our networks and partnerships and at the same time increase the visibility of the Münster University through a wide range of marketing and communication activities. Last but not least, we devise strategies and incentives to strengthen the academic and scientific collaborations with Brazil and making significant contributions to the internationalization of the University of Münster. A tradition of excellence: the long-standing ties between Münster and the STF are further consolidated

The Faculty of Law at the University of Münster (UM) and the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil (STF) have taken their inter-institutional collaboration to a new level through a new cooperation agreement.

Co-funded short-term research grants – DAAD funding for Brazilian PhD students with a domestic scholarship

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has opened applications for a grant programme for PhD students in Brazil who already hold a scholarship there. The programme offers additional financial support for research stays in Germany.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)’s programme “Funding for international visiting lecturers to teach at German universities” supports international lecturers and professors who wish to undertake a stay as lecturer at a German university.

The University of Münster’s Brazil Centre visits USP to boost collaboration in research & innovation

In early April, a delegation from the Brazil Centre at the University of Münster travelled to Brazil. The team, which also included Cíntia Toth, Director of the Brazil Centre’s Liaison Office in São Paulo, held a series of meetings and participated in events with the aim of strengthening partnerships and fostering collaboration.

The “Postdoc in Germany” workshop series in Porto Alegre and São Paulo

March is traditionally the month dedicated to the “Postdoc in Germany” workshop series, with events held in Brazil and other South American countries. The Brazil Centre at the University of Münster organises and represents the university in these and other initiatives, participating in the delegation alongside other institutions.

BioLigMat successfully funded: Cooperation between the University of Münster and the University of São Paulo for biobased materials

The BioLigMat project (Bioeconomy through Lignocellulosic Biomass and Exopolysaccharide Transformation: Engineered Biobased Materials for Multiple Applications), which was submitted to the Bioeconomy International 2025 programme with the support of the Brazil Centre and Prof. Dr. Jochen Schmid, an active collaborator with Brazil, has been successfully approved for funding.
