On 18 August 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. Brazilian time (10 p.m. to midnight CET), the liaison office of the University of Münster's Brazil Centre will be taking part in the Online Open Day organised by the DAAD in São Paulo.
The Faculty of Law at the University of Münster (UM) and the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil (STF) have taken their inter-institutional collaboration to a new level through a new cooperation agreement.
In early April, a delegation from the Brazil Centre at the University of Münster travelled to Brazil. The team, which also included Cíntia Toth, Director of the Brazil Centre’s Liaison Office in São Paulo, held a series of meetings and participated in events with the aim of strengthening partnerships and fostering collaboration.
The initiative to strengthen scientific cooperation between Germany and South America has successfully reached its final stages, with stops in Montevideo and Buenos Aires.
March is traditionally the month dedicated to the “Postdoc in Germany” workshop series, with events held in Brazil and other South American countries. The Brazil Centre at the University of Münster organises and represents the university in these and other initiatives, participating in the delegation alongside other institutions.
In August 2025, Dr. Jörg Lingens, a researcher from the University of Münster, spent a month as a guest at the State University of Maringá (UEM) in Paraná, Brazil. This visit combined research, teaching, and fostering scientific cooperation partnerships.
In March 2026, four sessions of the workshop „Postdoc in Germany“ will take place in Latin America: in Brazil, events are scheduled in Porto Alegre (03 March) and São Paulo (05 March). Further events will be held in Montevideo, Uruguay (10 March), and in Buenos Aires, Argentina (12 March).
During the first week of December, the Brazil Centre of the University of Münster carried out a series of activities in Rio de Janeiro, strengthening partnerships and expanding academic collaboration.
In October, the Brazil Centre of the University of Münster took part in a roadshow organised by the German Centre for Research and Innovation São Paulo (DWIH-SP) at two important universities in Northeast Brazil: the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) in Fortaleza and the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in Recife.
In September, Cíntia Toth, Director of the Brazil Centre’s Liaison Office in São Paulo, welcomed Prof. Dr. Philip Bockholt from the Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Münster in Brazil.
Brazilian Seminars is an international summer school developed by PUC-Rio, which will take place again in July 2026. This interdisciplinary summer programme, which includes numerous lectures and even language courses, gives participants the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Brazil and gain a nuanced understanding of various topics in the Brazilian context.
On 20 and 21 August 2025, the Faculty of Law at the University of São Paulo welcomed professors from the University of Münster for the second edition of their joint workshops, this time held in Brazil.
In October 2025, the consortium of German universities will hold two editions of the Postdoc in Germany workshop in Brazil’s Northeast: in Fortaleza (21/10) and Recife (23/10). Organised by the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH) São Paulo and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the events target early-career researchers who are in the final years of their PhD or who completed their doctorate no more than four years ago and wish to conduct research in Germany.
