University of Münster participates in the FAUBAI Conference 2026 and strengthens international partnerships

The Brazil Centre of the University of Münster took part in the Conference of the Brazilian Association for International Education (FAUBAI), held in Florianópolis from 11 to 15 April. The event is one of the most important cooperation platforms for higher education in Latin America, bringing together researchers, higher education managers and policymakers from all over the world.

The university's delegation consisted of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Hellingrath, Scientific Director of the Brazil Centre, Katy Cordeiro dos Santos, Acting Managing Director, and Cíntia Toth Gonçalves, Head of the Liaison Office in São Paulo. The team was part of the German delegation coordinated by the German Centre for Research and Innovation São Paulo (DWIH-SP) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Brazil. During the event, the representatives of the University of Münster deepened their ties with Brazilian institutions and discussed the expansion of academic cooperation with partner institutions. The conference thus provided both the opportunity to reconnect with partners and to open up new dialogues. In this context, the University of Münster held bilateral meetings with the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE).

On Saturday, the Head of the Liaison Office, Cíntia Toth Gonçalves, presented the University of Münster at a workshop organised by the DWIH-SP on the topic of Academic Mobility and Scientific Cooperation between Germany and Brazil. The funding opportunities were explained for a group of 45 participants, and financing mechanisms and ways to implement bilateral partnerships were discussed. The workshop was also attended by representatives of Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin), the University Alliance Ruhr (UA Ruhr), the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin), the University of Cologne and the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

Participation in the FAUBAI contributes to expanding the University of Münster's collaboration networks and to consolidating partnerships that promote joint research and the mobility of students and researchers, reaffirming the institution's commitment to intensifying and diversifying scientific cooperation and thus to internationalisation.
