The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) opened a new round of funding for outstanding early-career researchers intending to undertake a doctorate in Germany.

The Faculty of Law at the University of Münster (UM) and the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil (STF) have taken their inter-institutional collaboration to a new level through a new cooperation agreement.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has opened applications for a grant programme for PhD students in Brazil who already hold a scholarship there. The programme offers additional financial support for research stays in Germany.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)’s programme “Funding for international visiting lecturers to teach at German universities” supports international lecturers and professors who wish to undertake a stay as lecturer at a German university.

In early April, a delegation from the Brazil Centre at the University of Münster travelled to Brazil. The team, which also included Cíntia Toth, Director of the Brazil Centre’s Liaison Office in São Paulo, held a series of meetings and participated in events with the aim of strengthening partnerships and fostering collaboration.

March is traditionally the month dedicated to the “Postdoc in Germany” workshop series, with events held in Brazil and other South American countries. The Brazil Centre at the University of Münster organises and represents the university in these and other initiatives, participating in the delegation alongside other institutions.

The BioLigMat project (Bioeconomy through Lignocellulosic Biomass and Exopolysaccharide Transformation: Engineered Biobased Materials for Multiple Applications), which was submitted to the Bioeconomy International 2025 programme with the support of the Brazil Centre and Prof. Dr. Jochen Schmid, an active collaborator with Brazil, has been successfully approved for funding.

The PROBRAL programme has launched a new call on the 01 April 2026. The programme is a cooperation between the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES).
 

The Brazilian funding agency FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) have recently launched the joint call for the PROPASP 2026 programme.
 

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has announced its latest funding initiative for researchers from the Global South, including Brazilian researchers.

During the last week of February, the Brazil Centre team had the pleasure to welcome Edneia Soares Cassimiro, Dr Karin da Costa Ribeiro Ferraz, and Silvia Taquetti Mizubuti, from the Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies (PPG) at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV).

In August 2025, Dr. Jörg Lingens, a researcher from the University of Münster, spent a month as a guest at the State University of Maringá (UEM) in Paraná, Brazil. This visit combined research, teaching, and fostering scientific cooperation partnerships.

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo organises a two-week programme in English every year that includes practical educational activities in various medical fields. This year’s Winter School is scheduled to take place from 20 to 31 July.

In March 2026, four sessions of the workshop „Postdoc in Germany“ will take place in Latin America: in Brazil, events are scheduled in Porto Alegre (03 March) and São Paulo (05 March). Further events will be held in Montevideo, Uruguay (10 March), and in Buenos Aires, Argentina (12 March).
