Information about entry into Germany, corona regulations and quarantine

Last update: August 2022

Please regularly check all information regarding entry restrictions, corona regulations and quarantine with the official authorities (German Embassy, State of NRW, your local health authority)! Depending on the development of the pandemic, the regulations may change at short notice. If you have questions regarding quarantine, please contact the health authority of your place of residence in Germany. Here you can find the contact details of your local health authority.

  • Corona tests

There are many public testing centres where you can get tested by rapid test. In most cases, you have to pay a fee for this. Only in certain cases the test is free of charge, e.g. for people who have been in isolation after a positive Corona test or for people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons. In some cases, only a reduced fee of € 3 has to be paid, e.g. if you want to attend an indoor event or if you have received a notice of increased risk on the Corona warning app ("red tile"). You will find the exact regulations and the places in Münster where you can take a test here [de].
Please note: Only people who do not have symptoms are allowed to go to public test sites. Anyone who has symptoms must consult a doctor! If you do not know a doctor yet, you can find one here: Tel. 116117, in Münster [de] as well as in Münster at the weekend [de].

  • Covid Vaccination

If you want to be vaccinated against Corona, you can go to a doctor, a pharmacy or a vaccination centre. Here you can find an overview of the vaccination services in Münster.

    Certificate of Vaccination

If you get vaccinated in Germany, you can take the certificate you get from the doctor to any pharmacy and get a digital vaccination certificate there. This is also possible if you have an international vaccination certificate. Please note:

    • Not all international vaccines are recognised in the EU or they have a different name. You can read here [en] whether your vaccine is recognised in the EU and whether you are therefore considered vaccinated and can get a vaccination certificate.
    • If you have been vaccinated with a vaccine recognised in the EU, but do not have an EU certificate or an international vaccination card, you can take your national vaccination certificate to the public health officer at your local health authority [en]. (Website of the public health officer in Münster [de])
  • Help during quarantine time

The International Office, together with the student association Erasmus Münster e.V., offer help for international students who are in quarantine. In case you need help during your quarantine time, e.g. for buying food, please write to this mail address: internationalstudents.support@uni-muenster.de
