The University also strives to maintain close contact with former students and staff. As the University's largest network, the Alumni Club WWU Münster can help you stay in touch with other alumni and your alma mater. There are also alumni associations in faculties and institutes which strengthen the network in individual subject areas.

Help students in need
The increasing costs for food and energy are affecting some students seriously. The social counseling offices of the University report cases where students have to make ends meet with a budget considerably lower than the BAföG. Some students even think about dropping out of study for financial reasons.
Therefore, the Recorate of the University, the Stiftung WWU Münster, the Universitätsgesellschaft Münster e. V., the Alumni-Club WWU Münster and the General Students’ Committee (AStA) are calling for donations for the newly founded WWU Crisis Fund. The Fundraising Departement coordinates the fund.
Students who find themselves in need through no fault of their own receive up to 400 euros, in cases of hardship up to 800 euros per semester according to defined guidelines. The WWU Crisis Fund is funded exclusively by donations.
Alumni Day 2023
On Saturday, June 24, 2023, the Alumni Club WWU Münster cordially invites former students and employees to drop by the Alumni Day and discover exciting sides of the university with a diverse program. A brunch on Fürstenbergplatz offers the opportunity to talk to former fellow students and make new contacts.

The Stiftung WWU Münster
The University of Münster strives to achieve the highest quality in research and teaching. To this end, the Stiftung WWU (University of Münster Foundation) supports the University in its efforts to meet this goal. For example, the foundation funds the citizen science competition and awards scholarships to the best junior academics through the University’s ‘ProTalent’ scholarship programme.

Universitätsgesellschaft
Since 1918, the University Society Münster (Universitätsgesellschaft Münster) has provided interdisciplinary support to student organisations, cultural projects and model projects of excellence. The non-profit organisation supports projects for which public funding is unavailable or insufficient.
Funding associations
A large number of associations of friends and sponsors support projects at the University of Münster in the areas of research, teaching and culture. There are a number of sponsoring associations that promote projects at the faculty level in specific subjects and institutes and thus make special initiatives possible.
Alumni
The University of Münster is strongly committed to cultivating close and lasting ties with its former students and staff. To this end, the University founded the Alumni-Club WWU Münster in 2001. Since then its membership has grown to more than 25,000 registered alumni, making the Alumni Club the University’s largest network. We welcome not only past students, but also former academic and non-academic staff.
Emeriti
Professors play an integral role in shaping academic life, learning and research at the University of Münster. Even after they retire, we wish to stay in touch with all our esteemed professors and promote the exchange between former colleagues.
