We are delighted that the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation has accepted Franziska Jahnke, MATHRIX professor at Mathematics Münster, as a new Henriette Herz Scout. She has now the opportunity to recommend three postdocs from abroad for a renowned Humboldt Research Fellowship which can be granted directly.

Every year, in a competitive peer-review process, the Humboldt Foundation selects up to 40 scouts who will then themselves identify junior researchers abroad and recommend them to the Foundation. This new, active scouting procedure enables successful academics in Germany to directly approach highly sought-after candidates from abroad who have so far not applied to the Foundation and invite them up to two years to conduct joint research at their institutions.

The programme, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), will award up to 100 additional Humboldt Research Fellowships annually.
