We welcome Prof. Dr. Alcides Buss (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brazil) as a Münster Research Fellow. During his stay at our Cluster in February 2025, he will intensify his collaboration with the Operator Algebra group, building on his previous stay from February to December 2023. In February and March 2023, his visit was funded by a Humboldt Research Fellowship.

Alcides Buss is a distinguished researcher in the field of Operator Algebras. He received his PhD in 2007 under the joint supervision of Siegfried Echterhoff and Ralf Meyer and has since become one of Brazil’s leading experts in the field. He has maintained a long-standing collaboration with researchers in Münster on various topics, resulting in numerous joint publications and preprints. Among these are significant contributions on exotic crossed products and the amenability of group actions on operator algebras.

In 2025,  he is primarily collaborating with Prof. Siegfried Echterhoff on Deformation of C*-algebras — Group Coactions. Additionally, he will work with Devarshi Mukherjee from the Topology Group (under Prof. Thomas Nikolaus). Together with his master's student, Luiz Felipe Garcia, he has co-authored a paper on Operator Algebras over the p-adic integers. Furthermore, he will meet with Diego Martínez, a former postdoc in Münster, to work on a project related to the amenability of groupoids and Fell bundles over inverse semigroups.
