On this website, we would like to give you a brief overview of recurring seminars, conferences, and events organized by working groups in the Faculty of Biology.

Bernhard Rensch Lectures

The Bernhard Rensch Lecture, organized by the Department of Biology at the University of Münster, is a lecture series held in honor of the behavioral scientist Prof. Dr. Bernhard Rensch, who passed away in 1990. Beginning in 1947, he served as director of the Zoological Institute at the University of Münster and director of the State Museum of Natural History. Since his 80th birthday in 1980, the lecture named after him has been held once a year, during which leading biologists discuss key issues in their discipline.

The Collaborative Research Center (CRC)1348 „Dynamic Cellular Interfaces“ is an interdisciplinary research network funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the University of Münster. The CRC 1348 interconnects 25 research groups from the Faculties of Biology, Chemistry, and Medicine, the Max-Planck Institute of Molecular Biomedicine at Münster, and the Technical University Dortmund.

The CRC 1348 is organizing an international symposium with the title "Mechanochemical Signals at Cellular Interfaces“ in Münster from May 27 to 29, 2026.
The meeting, with 22 invited speakers and approximately 200 on-site participants, will foster the exchange between scientific disciplines by bringing together leading researchers in the fields of developmental biology, cell and tissue dynamics, and multiscale imaging.

We would be very happy if you and members of your group participate at this event in Münster in the spring.
For further information and free registration (starting February 1, 2026 / first come, first serve), please visit our Meeting Website.

Co- and Post-translational Control in Chloroplasts / Strasburger Workshop

18-20 November 2024
The workshop deals with the latest research on how co- and post-translational modifications (CPTMs) within chloroplasts influence vital processes such as photosynthesis, carbon assimilation, and a plant’s instantaneous acclimation to environmental changes.
