Scientific Computing

The Supercompute nwzPHI

The WWU ITis in charge of a supercomputer cluster for scientific computing for the IVV Natural Sciences, which has more than 6,000 computing cores based on Intel Xeon (Ivy Bridge) or Intel Xeon Phi (Knights Corner). This cluster can be used without restrictions for scientific applications. Further information can be found on the corresponding page of the WWU IT.

GRID-Computing with Morfeus

Many workstations in the NWZ are integrated into the "Morfeus" project, so that their unused computing time is available for computationally intensive programs from the natural sciences.

Additional Computers at the WWU IT

The "small" parallel computer (cluster) ZIVHPC

The WWU IT operates a small cluster with 160 processor cores, which every member of the university can use immediately with his ID. Further information can be found on the corresponding page of the WWU IT.

The parallel computer PALMA

The WWU IT also maintains a large cluster with 3,000 Intel processor cores (unfortunately based on the outdated Nehalem/Westmere architecture). This can be used upon request. Further information can be found on the corresponding page of the WWU IT.
