Office 365: Initial Registration

To use Office 365 free of charge, you must first register for "Microsoft Entra" in the IT Portal. You can then download the Office software from the Microsoft Online Portal and install it on up to 5 devices. Here you can also view and administrate on which devices your Office 365 licence is active.

 

  • Registering for Microsoft Entra

    Log in to the IT portal with your university ID and university password. Select "Licenses (software, etc.)" in the left menu bar and click "Activate" behind "You do not have a Microsoft Entra account".

    Your Microsoft Entra ID is Uni-Kennung@on.wwu.de. Now set your Microsoft Entra password and confirm the submission of your data to Microsoft by clicking YES. Then confirm your information by clicking "Activate Microsoft Entra account and licenses now".

    Your data will now be sent to Microsoft. Please note that it can take up to an hour for your license to be activated.

  • Downloading Office 365 Products

     

    Log in to the Microsoft Online Portal with your Microsoft Entra ID (University-ID@on.wwu.de) and password.

    Remove the tick for device management!

    Please uncheck the box to avoid a subsequent error message. The University of Münster does not manage private devices via Entra at any time.
    Even after removing the check mark, you will be automatically logged in to all Office 365 apps.

    You will now be taken to the home page of your Microsoft Office account. Click "Install Office" in the upper right corner if you want to install the Office products on your device.

    Select the menu item "Office 365 Apps - Includes Outlook, OneDrive for Business, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more". The download of the Office products should now start automatically.
