This network was formed in 2018, funded by the Nordic Research Council (NOS-HS funding 2018–2019), with the aim of stimulating innovative research development in the Nordic countries within the field of socio-onomastics. It lives on as a research network that gathers around good ideas and knowledge exchange on every thinkable aspect of socio-onomastics. The network organizes meetings and runs a webpage with a vivid popular scientific blog on socio-onomastic issues: https://www.nordicsocioonomastics.org

Namenforschung.net is the portal for name research* (onomastics) in Mainz. It presents
current onomastic research projects and doctoral programmes. References to thematically
related projects at other universities, also outside Germany, are intended to take account
of the broad spectrum of modern onomastics. The portal thus offers both academics and
interested laypersons a well-founded overview of current onomastic research questions.
