Bring out the best in your team to cultivate a highly successful, effective work setting

Zielgruppe: Juniorprofessor*innen und Nachwuchsgruppenleiter*innen

This workshop lets you develop skills and strategies for optimising your team’s effectiveness. A huge part of our success depends on cultivating and working effectively with people. Academia is uniquely designed as a learning and training environment: we must constantly on-board new scholars and help launch them into their careers. We have to deal with the instability of team structures, skill sets, and personalities coming and going. And, our teams are highly diverse with different skill sets, cultural backgrounds, societal expectations, and maybe even mixed generations working together.

On top of that, junior professors and group leaders are leading from a new status position. We may have a new role and notice that puts us in a different relationship to our former peers. And to top it off, academic scientists are rarely trained in team management or team communication. We often resort to doing things as they were done with us, and while that might have worked (we made it this far!), it might have left unnecessary scar tissue and demonstrated some poor habits, too.
By getting more clear about how to best manage your team in a way that suits you and your goals and is good for people, you can improve your research and save yourself time, energy, and frustration. This workshop offers clarity, communication, structures, skills and strategies for these important relationships. You can have a big influence on making a constructive and enriching work environment.
