Language Practice Team

As a student of English here at the English Seminar, Language Practice will form a very important component of your studies in this department. The Language Practice courses you take in the first three semesters of your English studies will help you to build a firm foundation for the rest of your degree programme. To this end, our Language Lecturers (or the language practice team or language skills team – different universities use different heading for our job, some do not have any listing at all while others do) are here to help you fine-tune your English skills. Our permanent international team of native speakers come from a variety of English-speaking countries and form a connecting link to all the sub-departments of the English Seminar. Since the English language is our binding force and our preferred means of communication, we will help you perfect your competencies in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

The four main courses in the Language Practice module are:

  1. Self-Study & Portfolio Tutorials (Semester 1)
  2. Integrated Language Skills I & II (Semester 2 & 3)
  3. Spoken English (Semester 2 or 3)
  4. Written Academic English (Semester 2 or 3, not for Lehramt G)
