On 6 July 2019 the former students and employees of the University of Münster met for the annual Alumni Day. This year's event was a sportive one: Prof. Dr. Johannes Wessels, Rector of the University of Münster, welcomed the alumni in the ball sports hall and gave an overview of the latest developments at the university. Prof. Dr. Nils Neuber, Managing Director of the Institute of Sports Science, and Jörg Verhoeven, Head of University Sports, introduced the guests to the University's sports campus. Project coordinator Dr. Nora Kluck gave an insight into the activities of the Alumni-Club Universität Münster.
Afterwards the guests experienced ballroom dancing, archery and the Harry Potter sport Quidditch and got to know the sports campus with its new buildings as well as the motion laboratory. In a guided tour with architect Andreas Schüring, the participants learned interesting facts about the history and transformation of the Leonardo Campus. Children from 4 to 14 years became little researchers themselves in the Q.UNI camp of the children's and youth university.
The departments of Catholic Theology, Mathematics and Computer Science as well as Physics offered their own events, for example on the subject of "Artificial Intelligence". The alumni celebrated their reunion with their former fellow students and colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere and made new contacts at the evening barbecue buffet with jazz music.
