The event series "Third-party Funding in a Nutshell/Drittmittelkompetenz kompakt" of the Department of Research Affairs is aimed at researchers from Faculties 1–4 and 6–15 and takes place alternately in German and English.
Individual courses focus on funding opportunities, practical information on how to apply for funding and legal and administrative aspects of third-party funding.
The next series of events will take place between 16 and 26 October 2023 via Zoom and will be held in German.

This web seminar gives an overview of the German funding landscape and focuses on funding possibilities of research projects, workshops and conferences. This includes individual funding agencies, their funding priorities as well as individual programmes and current calls for proposals.

The event is aimed primarily at young scientists who are about to complete their doctorate and postdocs.

Every application for third-party funding contains recurring elements that go beyond the individual requirements of the funding agency. In this event, the parts of the application and the associated key questions will be presented and structured in order to provide you with a roadmap for as many application formats as possible. In addition, we will focus on application strategy and what is important to reviewers and funding agencies.

When preparing an application for third-party funding, the correct calculation of costs is of great importance. You will receive advice and assistance on the correct calculation. Schedule and Work Plan are central to each application for third-party funding. A clear structure, concise textual presentation and visualization are therefore important aspects in its creation. You will receive advice and instructions for a clear presentation of your work programme.

Welche Arten von Drittmittelverträgen gibt es? Wie grenzen sich Kooperationsverträge, FuE-Verträge „Auftragsforschung“ und andere Verträge ab? Welche Stellen in der Verwaltung müssen bis zum Vertragsschluss beteiligt werden? Welche Besonderheiten gelten bei wirtschaftlichen Projekten? Welche steuerrechtlichen Themen sind diesbezüglich zu beachten? Welche steuerlichen Rahmenbedingungen gelten für das Thema Sponsoring (kurzer Einblick)?
In der Veranstaltung stellen Referent*innen aus dem Justiziariat und der Abteilung für Steuern ihre Arbeit vor und beantworten Ihre Fragen.
Die Veranstaltung findet in deutscher Sprache statt.

Digital data accumulates in practically every scientific work, for example survey data, laboratory values or photos. Handling these data in a reliable and responsible way is part of good scientific practice and includes e.g. the planning of data collection as well as the storage, evaluation, publication and preservation of data.
The lecture will deal with this ‘life cycle’ of research data: Which expectations are placed on scientists? What should be considered regarding storage formats and locations? A second focus will be on the topic of Open Access: What exactly does Open Access mean, and how can research data and results be published digitally? The presentation of the support the University of Muenster and the University Library offer for these questions will round off the event.

Ein Projekt wurde bewilligt – wie geht es weiter? Sie erhalten praktische Hinweise zur Anzeige eines Projektes, zu den einzureichenden Finanzierungsplänen sowie allgemeine Informationen zur Bewirtschaftung der Projektmittel. Ihre konkreten Fragen, Probleme sowie der direkte Austausch mit den Mitarbeiter*innen der Drittmittelverwaltung (Dez. 6.3) stehen an diesem Tag im Vordergrund.
Die Veranstaltung findet in deutscher Sprache statt.
Zielgruppe:
Die Veranstaltung richtet sich an alle Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter, die an Instituten, Lehrstühlen etc. mit der Projektadministration, Bewirtschaftung und Rechnungsstellung befasst sind.

Nationale und internationale Promovierendenprogramme sind strukturell besonders bedeutsame Bausteine zur gezielten Förderung des exzellenten wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses im eigenen Forschungsfeld. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Qualifizierung von Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden im Rahmen eines thematisch fokussierten, interdisziplinären Forschungsprogramms sowie eines strukturierten Qualifizierungskonzepts.
Der Zoom-Talk nimmt zwei zentrale Förderprogramme in diesem Bereich in den Fokus:
Herr Dr. Frank Pitzer von der DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) wird das Format der Graduierten Kollegs (inkl. Internationale Graduierten Kollegs) vorstellen; Frau Sarah Henkel von der KoWi (Kooperationsstelle EU der Wissenschaftsorganisationen) wird die Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action „Doctoral Networks“ im Rahmenprogramm für Forschung und Innovation der EU – Horizon Europe – in den Blick nehmen.
Zudem wird das Graduate Centre der Universität Münster einen Einblick zu bi-nationalen Promotionen/Cotutelle sowie Best-Practice zu Betreuungskonzepten innerhalb von Promovierendenprogrammen geben.

This event on the funding program "Research Projects of Students" is aimed at students of all subjects who are interested in conducting an own research project.
Innovative, scientific projects initiated and carried out by students themselves can be funded with up to 5,000 euros by the Rectorate of the University of Münster. It is important that the project is not a compulsory course work and/or a project within the framework of a thesis. For example, research stays in Germany and abroad, laboratory projects, field research or student-organized conferences can be funded.
We would like to give you impulses for your own project and especially helpful tips for a successful application by interviewing funded students.
