New publication: Are liberal objections to consumption corridors justified?

At the end of February, ZIN staff members Tobias Gumbert and Carolin Bohn published an article in "Sustainability: Science, Practice and Policy" titled "Are liberal objections to consumption corridors justified? On the relation of freedom and limits in green liberal thought".
In their article, they develop a new understanding of freedom. Instead of equating freedom with an unlimited number of possibilities, their idea of "green liberal freedom" is based on viewing consumption limits not as restrictions but as requirements for freedom. Such a shift in thinking would mean that democratic freedom and living within ecologically sustainable limits would no longer be at opposing ends, but could be combined. Thus, they support the approach of consumption corridors, which aims to ensure a good life for all with the help of an upper and lower limit for consumption.
